Budrys: Russia is trying to compensate for its military failure by attacking civilians
Vilnius, 29 November (Hibya) — Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys stated that Russia is sabotaging negotiations by targeting civilians, calling on Europe to take concrete action.
Budrys said that although Ukraine remains committed to diplomacy to end the war, Russia’s preferred “method of negotiation” consists of missile strikes, terror, and destruction. “Russia, unable to win on the battlefield and avoiding real diplomacy, is trying to compensate for its military failure by attacking civilians and infrastructure,” he said.
The minister urged Europe to take decisive steps, including approving compensation loans for Ukraine, providing security guarantees, accelerating Ukraine’s EU accession process, and joining the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression. Budrys stressed, “Europe can no longer ignore the warnings. Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are non-negotiable.”
