Dar discusses modernization of Karachi ports
Islamabad, November 12 (Hibya) – Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar discussed the modernization of Karachi ports as well as bilateral relations with Syria and Belarus.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dar chaired the second meeting of the committee established to enhance the efficiency of Karachi ports.
The meeting was attended by the Minister for Maritime Affairs, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, the Secretary of Maritime Affairs, a representative from the Ministry of Finance, and the heads of the Karachi Port Authority and Port Qasim Authority.
The committee reviewed plans for the modernization of port operations, aiming to bring Karachi ports up to international standards, reduce trade costs, and increase economic benefits.
Foreign Minister Dar also met with Dr. Mohammed Taha Al-Ahmad, Chairman of the Syrian High Election Commission, on the sidelines of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference 2025. Dar highlighted Pakistan’s solidarity with the Syrian people and the deep ties between the two brotherly nations, expressing hope for stronger bilateral cooperation.
During the same conference, Dar met with the head of the Belarusian delegation, MP and former Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik. He appreciated Aleinik’s participation, emphasized the long-standing friendship and cooperation between Pakistan and Belarus, and reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations.
