Ghebreyesus: Strong health systems save lives
Geneva, 29 November (Hibya) – World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated that strong health systems save lives during emergencies, emphasizing that the preparedness of countries is crucial for public health.
Ghebreyesus noted that Luxembourg is the latest country to join the High-Level Mission of the Universal Health and Preparedness Review (UHPR), which evaluates national readiness for health emergencies. He said the process helps review national capacities for responding to such emergencies.
It was reported that WHO and EU health officials met in Luxembourg with representatives from health, defense, finance, foreign affairs, civil protection, environment, academia, research institutions, social sectors, and national bodies. The discussions addressed the strengths and challenges of the country’s public health system.
