Large-scale military drills in Venezuela following increased US presence
Stockholm, November 12 (Hibya) – Venezuela is preparing a large-scale mobilization with land, air, and sea military exercises in response to the United States moving warships and troops into the Caribbean Sea.
Meanwhile, Colombia has suspended intelligence sharing with US agencies following boat attacks in the region.
Reserve forces will conduct the exercise on Wednesday in Venezuela. According to CNN, Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López said the mobilization is a response to the “imperialist threat” posed by the increased US presence in the region.
In addition to the regular army of 123,000 members, the Bolivarian militias — a paramilitary volunteer organization founded by former President Hugo Chávez and now operating under President Nicolás Maduro — will also participate in the drill.
