Qatar: 8 countries condemn Ben-Gvir’s stance toward flotilla activists
Doha, May 24 (Hibya) - Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the foreign ministers of eight countries, including Türkiye, condemned Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir’s stance toward activists aboard the flotilla heading to Gaza in a joint statement.
Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the foreign ministers of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Egypt and Türkiye issued a joint statement condemning Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir’s stance toward activists aboard the flotilla seeking to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza.
The statement described Ben-Gvir’s treatment of activists detained by Israel as “humiliating and unacceptable,” stating that it was contrary to human dignity and constituted a violation of international law and human rights obligations.
The foreign ministers also strongly condemned the inflammatory rhetoric and violent actions of Ben-Gvir and certain Israeli officials against Palestinians. The statement noted that such attitudes fuel hatred and extremism and undermine peace efforts based on the two-state solution.
The ministers called for accountability regarding Ben-Gvir’s actions and emphasized the need to prevent similar provocations from recurring and to ensure full compliance with international law in the occupied Palestinian territories.
