Report: Irish lead Europe in artificial intelligence usage
Stockholm, 14 November (Hibya) – According to a Microsoft report, Ireland leads Europe in artificial intelligence usage, with 41.7% of Irish people regularly using AI in their daily lives or work.
The report states that Europe is at the forefront of AI adoption. Europeans are embracing AI, but new data shows significant variations in enthusiasm between countries.
Microsoft notes that since the launch of OpenAI’s ChatGPT in 2022, more than 1.2 billion people worldwide have used AI tools.
This is a faster adoption rate than the internet, personal computers, and smartphones.
According to the report, the European Union—particularly its wealthiest countries—is leading AI adoption. Ireland tops the list with 41.7% regular users.
France (40.9%) and Spain (39.7%) follow.
At the lower end of the spectrum are Romania (15.3%) and Greece (17.7%), the EU countries least likely to use AI daily or at work.
Beyond the EU, Norway and the United Kingdom are also among the top AI adopters: 45.3% of Norwegians and 36.4% of Britons use AI regularly.
Microsoft highlights that global AI usage strongly correlates with economic conditions: adoption is around 23% in the Global North and 13% in the Global South.
