Szijjarto: Hungary does not need any capital’s permission
Budapest, 29 November (Hibya) – Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto responded to European criticism following his Moscow meetings, stating that his country pursues “a sovereign foreign policy.”
Szijjarto issued a written statement addressing reactions from pro-war European politicians after his talks in Moscow. He said the criticism was based on “a misunderstanding” and emphasized that Hungary does not need the “permission of Brussels, Berlin or any other capital” for its foreign policy steps.
He added that Hungary follows a fully independent foreign policy and that its decisions are shaped by national interests: “Whether Brussels likes it or not, Hungary sets its own course.”
