Uzbekistan hosts the 43rd UNESCO General Conference
Tashkent, October 30 (Hibya) – Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov stated that his country is deeply honored to host the 43rd General Conference of UNESCO.
Saidov said, “It is a great honor for us to host this important meeting in the timeless city of Samarkand, the cradle of science, culture, and dialogue between civilizations.”
He added that in his opening speech, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the strong link between Uzbekistan’s historical heritage and its modern aspirations, saying, “We are building bridges between the past and the future, between heritage and innovation.”
Saidov noted that holding the conference in Samarkand demonstrates Uzbekistan’s rich cultural heritage and its growing role in promoting international cooperation, education, and intercultural understanding. He reaffirmed the country’s full commitment to UNESCO’s mission of “peace through knowledge, culture, and mutual respect.”
He also highlighted that the event, with delegations from more than 190 countries, provides an important platform for engagement with international partners around the world.
