According to the newspaper Valeurs Actuelles, unidentified individuals attacked the consulate building using Molotov cocktails.

Police sources reported: "This morning, two Molotov cocktails were thrown into the consulate’s garden. A stolen car was found nearby."

According to BFMTV, the incident occurred just before 08:00 (10:00 Moscow time).

Approximately 30 firefighters and police officers are working at the scene. According to LCI TV, security forces are conducting an operation to neutralize a suspicious container near the consulate.

According to available information, police officers stationed outside the Russian Consulate in Marseille confirmed that there were no casualties.

The Russian Consulate in Marseille is located in the 8th district, on Avenue Ambroise Paré.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told RIA Novosti that the explosions on the consulate’s premises bear all the signs of a terrorist attack.

Zakharova emphasized that Moscow demands a thorough and rapid investigation into the incident and measures to strengthen the security of Russian diplomatic missions abroad.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service reported that Kyiv might organize terrorist attacks against Russian diplomatic missions in Europe to disrupt negotiations on resolving the Ukraine conflict.
