Ghebreyesus: Sustainable urban development is also a necessity
Geneva, April 9 (Hibya) – WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that sustainable urban development is not only a choice but also a necessity.
Ghebreyesus emphasized that cities are not only centers of trade and culture but also at the heart of many of the most serious health challenges.
Pointing out that by 2050, approximately 70% of the global population is expected to live in cities, he said, “Sustainable urban development is therefore not just a choice but a necessity.”
Ghebreyesus added that the WHO is committed to working with mayors, academics, and all partners to build healthier and safer cities for all people.
