Iranian Foreign Minister Baqaei attended the UN General Assembly annual session
Tehran, September 22 (Hibya) – Iranian Foreign Minister Esmaeil Baqaei announced in a post that he had attended the annual session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in New York.
The annual meeting of the UN General Assembly was held under the theme “Better Together: 80 Years and Beyond for Peace, Development and Human Rights.” Baqaei emphasized that this meeting carries special significance for the organization at a critical moment when the UN’s goals and founding principles are facing unprecedented threats.
Baqaei stated: “These threats to the UN’s founding principles are manifested in excessive unilateral tendencies, repressive policies, disrespect for international law, and the spread of impunity for blatant violations of human rights and international humanitarian law.”
On the ongoing genocide in Gaza, Baqaei said: “The genocide in Gaza poses a major threat to the credibility of the UN. To date, it has been the toughest test for the integrity and normative credibility of the United Nations institutions. To preserve the organization’s position and role, member states must act swiftly and decisively to end this atrocity and bring the perpetrators to international justice.”
