Leyen: Threats to our security are real and increasing rapidly
Brussels, 17 November (Hibya) – European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that Europe must urgently strengthen its capacity to protect its airspace and infrastructure.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk earlier described the explosion of the Warsaw–Lublin railway line as an unprecedented act of sabotage directly targeting the security of the Polish state and civilians. “This line is of vital importance for delivering aid to Ukraine. Whoever the perpetrators are — we will catch them,” he said.
Commission President Leyen emphasized that the threats to their security are real and growing rapidly.
Highlighting the urgent need for Europe to strengthen its ability to protect airspace and infrastructure, Leyen added: “Poland is today the country with the highest defense spending in Europe. Therefore, it will be the country that benefits most from the SAFE mechanism. Together we are stronger.”
