Qatar and UN flags raised for the Social Development Summit
Doha, November 2 (Hibya) – A ceremony was held at the Qatar National Convention Centre where the flags of Qatar and the United Nations (UN) were raised to mark the opening of the Second World Summit for Social Development.
As part of the opening of the Second World Summit for Social Development, to be held in Qatar from November 4 to 6, the flags of Qatar and the UN were raised on Sunday morning at the Qatar National Convention Centre. The ceremony was attended by the Secretary-General of the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ahmed bin Hassan Al Hammadi, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, Li Junhua, as well as senior Qatari officials and UN representatives.
Dr. Al Hammadi expressed pride in Qatar hosting the summit, noting that 30 years have passed since the first social summit in Copenhagen. He stated that this summit reflects Qatar’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable social development and to multilateral cooperation for social justice and the well-being of all peoples. Al Hammadi also emphasized that the summit provides a crucial opportunity to advance global dialogue on social development and to accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
