Tajani: Christians and Muslims deserve to live in peace
Rome, July 28 (Hibya) – Italy's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said that Christians and Muslims in the West Bank deserve to live in peace and be protected.
Tajani announced that he called Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa to express his solidarity following another violent attack by Israeli settlers, this time on the Christian village of Taybeh in the West Bank.
He stressed that the Israeli government has an obligation to act, put an end to these attacks, and protect Palestinian citizens. “Christians and Muslims in the West Bank deserve to live in peace and to be protected,” Tajani said.
Tajani noted that settlers continue to cross all boundaries despite knowing that Christians are a source of stability, adding:
“Italy stands with the victims of this attack and reiterates its commitment to stopping the hostilities in Gaza and the West Bank. Together with our EU partners, we will consider imposing new sanctions on violent settlers.”
