U.S. President Donald Trump said that destroying a massive drug-carrying submarine heading toward the United States was a great honor for him. He noted that the submarine was sailing along a well-known drug trafficking route and added:

"U.S. intelligence confirmed that the vessel was largely loaded with fentanyl and other illegal narcotics. There were four known narco-terrorists aboard, two of whom were killed. If I had allowed that submarine to reach the shore, at least 20,000 Americans would have died. The two surviving terrorists are being sent back to their countries, Ecuador and Colombia, where they will be arrested and tried."
