WHO: Sudan continues to be the world’s largest food crisis
Geneva, November 3 (Hibya) – The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, made a statement regarding the situation in Sudan.
WHO Director-General Ghebreyesus stated that Sudan continues to be the world’s largest food crisis.
He noted that famine has been officially confirmed in the cities of El-Fasher and Kadugli, while more than 20 settlements in the Greater Darfur and Greater Kordofan regions are at risk of famine.
Ghebreyesus said that more than 21 million people across the country are suffering from hunger and added: “An immediate ceasefire and access to humanitarian aid are essential to prevent further deterioration and save lives!”
