WHO: Sudden aid cuts have led to loss of life and setbacks in health progress
Geneva, November 3 (Hibya) – World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated that sudden and unplanned cuts in international aid have seriously affected many countries, causing loss of life and endangering hard-won health gains.
Dr. Ghebreyesus wrote on social media: “Sudden and unplanned cuts in aid have severely affected many countries, caused loss of life, and jeopardized hard-earned health progress.”
The WHO Director-General announced the release of a new guide aimed at helping countries improve financial planning to ensure the continuity of health services.
The guide, published by the WHO, is expected to help countries mobilize, prioritize, and use resources more efficiently to support the delivery of health services.
