24 killed in attack on a hotel in Ukraine’s Kherson region
Moscow, January 1 (Hibya) – According to a statement by regional governor Volodymyr Saldo, an attack carried out by three unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) belonging to the Ukrainian Armed Forces on a café and a hotel in Khorli, in the Kherson Oblast, killed 24 people and injured more than 50.
The regional governor said, “Three UAVs attacked a café and a hotel in Horli on the coast of the Black Sea. More than 50 people were injured, 24 were killed. The figures are being уточified. Many were burned alive. One child was killed.”
It was reported that a child was among the dead. Medical teams are currently providing the necessary assistance to the injured.
According to the governor, one of the Ukrainian UAVs was loaded with the same incendiary mixture that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had previously used to burn Russian fields. The fire caused by the UAV’s explosion was extinguished only in the early morning hours.
Saldo said, “What is particularly ironic is that the attack was carried out after a reconnaissance mission, almost as the midnight bells were ringing.”
Kherson, currently under Russian control, is a port city in southern Ukraine and the administrative center of the Kherson region, located on the shores of the Black Sea and the Dnieper River.
