African stock markets trade flat
Istanbul, October 9 (Hibya) – African markets remained largely calm and unchanged during this trading session of the week, while losses in Morocco's stock market index weighed on the region as a whole.
Stock market indices across the African continent ended the trading day within a very narrow range and with limited trading volumes. The most notable selling pressure in the region was recorded in the Morocco All Shares index, which declined by 1.42% on a daily basis to 16,749.18 points.
In South Africa, one of the region's leading markets, the Top 40 index closed at 99,406.91 points, posting a marginal increase of just 0.01%. The Semdex index gained 0.60%, while share prices remained unchanged in other emerging African stock markets, including Kenya, Uganda, Namibia, Malawi, Tanzania and Rwanda, with indices ending the day flat.
