Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani met on March 27, 2026, in Washington with U.S. Vice President Vance and Treasury Secretary Bessent.

During the meeting, the close strategic partnership between Qatar and the United States was discussed, and opportunities to strengthen cooperation in various fields—especially the defense partnership—were evaluated in light of current regional developments.

The parties also discussed developments in global energy markets, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the sustainability of energy supply and the continued flow of liquefied natural gas from Qatar to global markets.

The Qatari Prime Minister highlighted the importance of maintaining global energy security and ensuring freedom of navigation at sea in accordance with international law.

The U.S. Vice President underscored the strong strategic partnership between the two countries and expressed appreciation for Qatar’s active role in promoting regional stability and strengthening global energy security.
