Anand: Civic space is one of the fundamental pillars of Canada’s foreign policy
Ottawa, April 23 (Hibya) - Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand stated, within the framework of the first Civic Space Summit, that the protection of civil society and human rights defenders worldwide is one of the priorities of Canada’s foreign policy.
Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand announced that support will continue for actors carrying out human rights and humanitarian aid activities in regions where civic space is shrinking.
Highlighting the importance of the summit, Anand said, “The first Civic Space Summit brought together hundreds of human rights defenders, civil society leaders, and philanthropists at a very important moment. Civic space is one of the fundamental pillars of Canada’s foreign policy.”
