Baqaei: Don't let yourselves become cannon fodder and foot the bill for a war you didn't choose
Tehran, September 5 (Hibya) - Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ismail Baqaei reacted to an opinion column published in the US press and called on the American public not to become involved in conflicts in the Middle East.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ismail Baqaei criticized proposals published in the Israeli press aimed at encouraging young Americans to participate in military processes and called on the US public to stay out of the regional war.
Addressing the American public, Baqaei said, “Americans, ask yourselves this question: Why should your sons and daughters be offered debt forgiveness in exchange for fighting and dying in a war that Israel wants to continue and expand?”
Drawing attention to the basis of the claims, Baqaei said, “An opinion column in the Jerusalem Post explicitly proposes exactly this idea: using student loans and credit card debt to draw Americans into a war with Iran. Your lives. Your taxes. Someone else's war.”
Baqaei concluded his statement by saying, “Don't let yourselves become cannon fodder and foot the bill for a war you didn't choose. Don't let your children become mercenaries for an illegal ‘war of choice.’”
