Budrys: Civilian commercial vessels should not become military targets
Vilnius, October 6 (Hibya) - Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys said Russia's attacks had spread to the Black Sea, stressing that civilian commercial vessels should not become military targets.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys expressed regret over developments in the Black Sea in a statement regarding Russia's attacks on Ukraine. Budrys said he was saddened by the loss of life and expressed solidarity with NATO allies Romania, Bulgaria and Türkiye.
Budrys argued that Russia's attacks on commercial vessels and Ukrainian grain exports violate international law provisions on freedom of navigation, saying the attacks undermine global food security and threaten countries dependent on grain supplies from the Black Sea.
Budrys said Russia's escalating actions pose a threat to Black Sea security, global trade and the stability of international food markets.
