According to a statement by Bulgaria's Council of Ministers, Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev honored Interior Ministry officers who contributed to solving high-risk crimes during an official ceremony at the Council of Ministers. In his speech at the ceremony, Radev claimed that in the past Interior Ministry officers had been prevented from uncovering and investigating serious economic crimes linked to those in power and extending to political parties.

Expressing his satisfaction, Radev said, “For years, Interior Ministry officers were prevented from uncovering and investigating serious economic crimes linked to those in power and extending to political parties. Today those obstacles have been removed; I am sincerely pleased that we have police officers who take initiative, demonstrate high professionalism and dedication, and give everything they have to this work.”

Radev honored Inspector Yuliana Nikolova from the Investigation Department of the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime, as well as Anti-Corruption Department officers Inspector Elena Ilieva and Inspector Ivo Grudev for their work on the “ViK-Burgas” case. Noting that the production and distribution of narcotic substances pose a threat to national security, Radev highlighted the importance of operations against drug production and trafficking.

Bulgarian Prime Minister Radev also commended Ruse-based General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime officers Inspector Petar Stoychev, Inspector Krasimir Kirilov and Inspector Momchil Mihaylov for their work in dismantling a fentanyl production laboratory in Sofia in early August.

Three officers who contributed to preventing an attempt to transport 125 kilograms of marijuana using an underwater drone in the Sunny Beach and Tsarevo area were also honored. In this context, Commissioner Pavel Kolev, head of the 12th Department of the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime, Inspector Dencho Azmanov from the same department and Inspector Georgi Enchev from the Burgas-based Investigation Department received awards.
