China retaliates against US: Raises additional tariffs on US goods to 125%
Beijing, April 11 (Hibya) – According to China Central Television, China is raising additional tariffs on goods imported from the US to 125%.
The report states that the tariff rate will be adjusted from 84% to 125%. According to the TV channel, the decision will take effect on April 12.
Meanwhile, according to China’s Ministry of Commerce, Beijing has filed a new case with the WTO due to Washington’s tariff increases.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated that no one wins in a tariff war, and that Beijing does not seek conflict but is not afraid to fight if necessary.
On April 2, Donald Trump announced reciprocal tariffs on imports from other countries. Regarding China, the new tariffs were added to existing ones, reaching 54% initially. In response, China’s State Council imposed additional 34% tariffs on all US goods.
The US then raised tariffs to 104%, and Beijing responded with an 84% rate. Later, Trump increased tariffs on Chinese goods first to 125%, then to 145%.
