Ghebreyesus: It’s incredible to think that 30 years ago there were 3.5 million Guinea Worm cases each year
Geneva, April 9 (Hibya) – World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus made a statement about Guinea Worm cases.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said it’s incredible to think that just 30 years ago there were 3.5 million Guinea Worm cases annually across the world.
Announcing that each of the past four years has seen 15 or fewer cases, Ghebreyesus said: “We are very close to a historic success. I thank the Ministry of Health of Chad for hosting the Guinea Worm Eradication Program Review Meeting, and the Carter Center for co-organizing it with WHO.”
