Ghebreyesus: Very few countries willing to take patients from Gaza
Geneva, September 12 (Hibya) – World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated that very few countries are willing to take patients from Gaza.
Ghebreyesus stressed that WHO continues its efforts to ease suffering in Gaza and to evacuate those in need of urgent medical care out of the territory.
He noted that the current issue is that very few countries are willing to accept patients. “We call on countries to open their doors to these seriously ill patients,” Ghebreyesus said.
He also urged Israel to allow people to receive treatment in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, where hospitals near their homes are able to accommodate large numbers of patients.
