Guterres: Blue Helmets are a symbol of the power to come together
New York, May 13 (Hibya) – United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that UN Blue Helmets symbolize the power to unite to help countries transition from conflict to peace.
Secretary-General Guterres emphasized that UN Peacekeepers represent the ability to come together in support of countries moving from conflict to peace.
He noted that Cambodia, Côte d'Ivoire, El Salvador, Liberia, Namibia, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, and Timor-Leste are among the countries that have achieved lasting peace with the support of UN Peacekeeping. “Many of them now contribute troops to peace efforts in other countries,” he added.
