Israeli author David Grossman says his country is committing genocide in Gaza
Stockholm, August 2 (Hibya) – Award-winning Israeli author David Grossman described his country’s operation in Gaza as genocide, saying he can no longer refrain from using the term.
The renowned writer and peace activist said in an interview published Friday by the Italian newspaper La Repubblica: “I ask myself: how did we get to this point?”
“How did we come to be accused of genocide? Just uttering the word – ‘genocide’ – when talking about Israel, about the Jewish people, is enough to show that something very bad has happened to us.”
Grossman said he had refused to use the term for years. “But now I can’t stop myself – not after what I’ve read in the newspapers, seen in the images, and heard from people who have been there. The word is like an avalanche: once spoken, it grows and leads to even more destruction and pain.”
Grossman’s comments came just days after two major Israeli human rights groups stated that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, amid rising global concern over hunger in the besieged region.
