Israeli Foreign Ministry criticizes Albanese
Jerusalem, October 28 (Hibya) - The Israeli Foreign Ministry accused United Nations (UN) Special Rapporteur on Palestine Francesca Albanese of denying Israel's right to defend itself, arguing that Albanese should step down from her human rights mandate within the UN.
In its statement, the ministry said the Holocaust had demonstrated the consequences of leaving Jews defenseless, stating, “The Holocaust clearly showed us what happens when Jews are left defenseless.”
The statement alleged that Albanese sought to deny Israel the right to protect itself and its people, adding, “We know very well what leaving Jews defenseless can lead to. We will never allow that to happen again.”
The Israeli Foreign Ministry claimed that Albanese supported this approach, stating, “It is inappropriate for someone who supports this agenda to hold a human rights mandate within the UN. Albanese must step down.”
