Lahbib: We are closely monitoring the situation of forest fires
Brussels, July 28 (Hibya) – Hadja Lahbib, European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management, said they are closely monitoring the situation of forest fires in different countries.
Hadja Lahbib, European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management, stated that they are closely monitoring the situation of forest fires in various countries.
Responding to requests for assistance from Greece, Bulgaria and Albania, she said that various resources from the EU rescue fleet in Italy, Croatia, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, France and Sweden have been deployed over the weekend.
“While Greece is fighting many fires, in the afternoon we responded to assistance requests by deploying 2 Canadair aircraft from the EU rescue fleet in Italy and are closely monitoring the situation with Copernicus satellite images. In response to Bulgaria's request for help with forest fires, various resources from the EU rescue fleet have been mobilized. Four helicopters from Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic and France and two firefighting aircraft from Sweden will assist national teams on the ground.”
