Leyen: We will ensure Europe remains at the forefront of automotive innovation
Brussels, September 12 (Hibya) — European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said they continue working to ensure that the cars of the future are produced in Europe.
European Commission President Leyen stated that they want the cars of the future to be produced in Europe, and that they are working hand in hand with the industry to make this a reality.
She noted that they held the "3rd Strategic Dialogue" meeting with the automotive sector and added: "Our Industrial Action Plan has begun to bear fruit. We are protecting European companies from unfair competition, improving access to critical raw materials, and supporting workers’ reskilling."
Highlighting that they provided flexibility while taking into account the concerns of the sector, Leyen said: "We will combine decarbonization and technological neutrality. Today, with technology transforming mobility and geopolitics reshaping global competition, it is impossible for everything to continue as before."
Leyen underlined that Europe will remain at the forefront of automotive innovation.
