Lithuanian Foreign Minister Budrys: Putin was caught unprepared
Vilnius, October 23 (Hibya) – Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys said that only the transatlantic alliance, which exerts the greatest pressure on Russia, can force Russian President Putin to stop deliberately mocking the U.S.-led peace efforts and accept an unconditional ceasefire.
Budrys stated that Putin was caught unprepared, adding: “Only the transatlantic alliance that challenges Russia the most can compel Putin to stop ridiculing the U.S.-led peace initiatives and to accept an unconditional ceasefire.”
He expressed full support for U.S. sanctions against Russian oil giants and the EU’s 19th sanctions package, saying: “These sanctions strike at the driving force of Russia’s war economy.”
Budrys added that the 20th sanctions package should fully align the EU with the U.S., further target Russia’s oil and gas giant Rosatom, and impose a total embargo on dual-use exports to Russia, stating: “Peace through strength and full support for Ukraine.”
