Palestine reminds UN of Israeli occupation deadline
Ramallah, September 19 (Hibya) – The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reminded that the deadline granted by the UN General Assembly a year ago for Israel to end its occupation of Palestinian territories has expired, criticizing the UN Security Council for failing to take effective action.
The ministry stressed that Israel not only failed to comply with the deadline but also increased violations and defied signed agreements. The statement said Israel has deepened practices of genocide, displacement, and annexation.
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry stated that the international community’s reliance on unenforced UN resolutions that lack mechanisms to compel Israel to meet its obligations amounts to complicity. The statement warned that this situation especially threatens the credibility of the UN and its institutions and encourages Israel to commit further crimes.
