Protests Against the Nobel Peace Prize Laureate
Oslo, December 10 (Hibya) – The Norwegian Nobel Peace Committee canceled the traditional torchlight procession held in honor of this year’s laureate. At the same time, the organization “Lay Down Your Arms” is planning several demonstrations this week in Oslo to protest the awarding of the Peace Prize to Venezuelan María Corina Machado.
“Lay Down Your Arms,” founded in 2014 to defend Nobel’s will, announced during a press conference in Oslo that it has filed an official complaint against this year’s decision to award the Peace Prize to María Corina Machado.
John Jones of the organization said, “The Nobel Committee’s regrettable choice misinterprets Nobel’s words and wrongly describes and praises the actions of María Corina Machado.”
