Rubio: We thank the UAE and Qatar for their support
Washington, March 24 (Hibya) - U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that American citizen Dennis Coyle, who had been detained in Afghanistan, has been released and returned home.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio shared humanitarian and diplomatic developments regarding the release of an American citizen detained in Afghanistan.
Referring to the process with the Coyle family, Rubio said: “Earlier this month, I met with Molly, Amy, and Patti, who asked for help in rescuing their brother Dennis Coyle, who was detained in Afghanistan. Today, Dennis is returning home.”
Highlighting partners involved in the diplomatic aspect of the operation, Rubio added: “We thank the UAE and Qatar for their support.”
Rubio emphasized that this development is a positive step toward ending the practice of hostage diplomacy.
