Sanchez: There are those who refuse to be silenced when faced with darkness
Madrid, April 7 (Hibya) - Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez met with Belarusian Svetlana Tikhanovskaya and reiterated Spain's support for the democratic demands of the Belarusian people and the European Union’s commitment to sanctions.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez made a statement following his meeting with Tikhanovskaya regarding the political situation in Belarus and the democratic struggle.
Highlighting the importance of those fighting for democracy, Sanchez said: "There are those who refuse to be silenced when faced with darkness".
Sanchez stated: "Svetlana Tikhanovskaya leads a tireless struggle against violence and oppression. We need figures like her more than ever".
Emphasizing the stance of Spain and the EU, Prime Minister Sanchez concluded: "Today I conveyed Spain's support for the democratic aspirations of the Belarusian people, its commitment to the victims, and its dedication to European Union sanctions".
