Dick Schoof said, “Everyone has their own life story. You cannot always see from the outside that something is wrong. But what is someone’s real situation? Or how are things at home? Asking that question is also important.”

He emphasized that preventive youth policies aim not only to create a healthy home environment but also to provide a safe space at school, in the neighborhood, and online, thereby reducing young people’s need for support.

Schoof added that conversations with the municipal council, youth workers, and young people offered valuable insights into opportunities and possibilities. “It also showed that there is no single right approach; everything comes down to offering personalized solutions. This approach works particularly well in small municipalities like Rhenen.”
