Sybiha stated that today marks the third anniversary of the targeted massacre in Olenivka.

He said, “On July 29, 2022, Russia deliberately killed over 50 Ukrainian prisoners of war and injured more than 150 in a premeditated act of terror. We call on the International Criminal Court to issue arrest warrants for all those responsible – from the direct perpetrators to the Russian command that gave the order and attempted to cover it up.”

Sybiha emphasized that the world must not forget or ignore this incident: “Justice for Olenivka is not a choice—it is a moral and legal imperative.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also made a statement:

“On the night of July 28–29, 2022, Russia committed one of the most horrific war crimes by killing dozens of Ukrainian POWs in Olenivka. Sadly, this is far from the only example of Russian brutality. Today, Ukraine observes the Day of Mourning and Remembrance for the first time to honor Ukrainian Defenders, members of volunteer units, and civilians who were executed, tortured, or died in captivity.”
