Foreign Minister Szijjarto said that the meeting between Orban and Trump is of significant strategic importance for Hungary.

He stated that the parties will sign an important nuclear cooperation agreement and stressed that it is vital for Hungary to maintain the ability to purchase energy from Russia without sanctions or legal restrictions to ensure its energy security.

Szijjarto added that the war in Ukraine will also be on the agenda, noting that since taking office, Trump has made extraordinary efforts to bring the parties closer to peace.

He concluded by saying that Hungary is ready to host peace talks once the necessary preparations are completed and emphasized that Prime Minister Orban has been the only European leader consistently calling for peace since the first day of the war.
