Tajani: Rome is finally recognized for its rightful role
Rome, July 30 (Hibya) – Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani stated that the Council of Ministers’ approval of the constitutional bill declaring Rome as the capital is the result of a historic struggle.
Tajani said that the approval of the constitutional bill is the outcome of a historic battle proudly supported by President Berlusconi, the entire Forza Italia party, and himself.
He added that the text approved by the Council of Ministers will complement and strengthen the proposal presented to the Chamber of Deputies by Forza Italia, with Paolo Barelli as the first signatory and rapporteur.
“Rome is finally recognized for its rightful role and is being equipped with the necessary tools to deal with the burdens and demands arising from its national and international prestige. Rome is a symbolic city not only for Italy but also for the history of Europe and the West. Besides being the capital of Italy, it is also the center of Christianity and home to Vatican City.”
