Tsahkna: We will intensify pressure until Russia ends the war and returns to its borders
Tallinn, April 23 (Hibya) – Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna evaluated the European Union’s (EU) 20th sanctions package against Russia and called for increased pressure on the energy sector.
Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna emphasized that cutting off Russia’s energy revenues, the main source of its war economy, is crucial to ending the war in Ukraine.
Referring to the importance of the new sanctions, Tsahkna said: “The EU has finally adopted the 20th sanctions package. However, our work is not yet done. Russia finances its aggression through energy.”
Advocating measures targeting energy trade, Tsahkna stated: “These flows must be completely cut off, including a full ban on maritime services for its oil. We will intensify pressure until Russia ends the war and returns to its borders.”
Highlighting determination for future steps, Minister Tsahkna added: “Work on the next sanctions package has already begun. Ukraine is not alone.”
