Türk: Children are being deprived of their childhood every day
New York, November 20 (Hibya) — United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk highlighted the alarming global decline in children's rights and called on the international community to take urgent action.
In his statement, Türk stressed that millions of children are deprived of their fundamental rights and freedoms every day, saying: “Every day, children around the world are being deprived of their childhood.”
Emphasizing that violations of children's rights have reached worrying levels, Türk said that a fairer, more inclusive and more hopeful world must be built. He added: “We must reverse the terrible regression in children's fundamental rights and renew our commitment to building a brighter, fairer and more inclusive world.”
Türk concluded his statement with the hashtag #ForEveryChild, calling for rights, justice and protection for all children.
