Ukrainian President Zelensky met with EU Commission President von der Leyen
Kyiv, July 27 (Hibya) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he met with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
Zelensky stated that the meeting covered topics such as Ukraine’s European integration, further strengthening of sanctions against Russia, and the operation of anti-corruption infrastructure.
He also mentioned that they discussed a draft law ensuring the independence and effectiveness of Ukraine’s anti-corruption institutions.
"I thanked her for the adoption of the EU’s 18th sanctions package against Russia, particularly for lowering the price cap on Russian oil. Ukraine continues to synchronize its policies with European sanctions. All 18 packages are already in effect in Ukraine."
"We also discussed the steps needed to open the first negotiation cluster regarding Ukraine’s EU membership. We will work on this as soon as possible."
