US and Israel Say Hamas Response is Unacceptable
Washington, June 1 (Hibya) – The US special envoy and the Israeli prime minister agree that Hamas’s response to the draft ceasefire is unacceptable. Hamas claims it responded positively but emphasizes a permanent ceasefire and the withdrawal of Israeli forces.
The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Hamas of rejecting the US-backed ceasefire proposal.
This accusation came after White House Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff described Hamas’s response as “absolutely unacceptable.”
Earlier, Hamas had announced it would release 10 live hostages and 18 bodies in response to the US plan.
On March 18, Israel imposed a full blockade on Gaza and resumed military operations against Hamas, leading to the collapse of the two-month ceasefire mediated by the US, Qatar, and Egypt.
