Zelensky: Russia’s attacks are increasingly taking on the nature of terror
Kyiv, September 11 (Hibya) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russian forces are deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure in Kyiv and other regions with jet-powered unmanned aerial vehicles.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned Russia’s attacks on civilian targets and rescue teams and called for the protection of airspace and the strengthening of air defense systems.
Drawing attention to the nature of the attacks, Zelensky said: “Russia’s attacks, which it is escalating with jet-powered ‘Shahed’ drones, are increasingly taking on the nature of terror.”
Referring to targets in the capital, Zelensky said: “Throughout the day, the Russians deliberately targeted gas stations in Kyiv. Today alone, as a result of these attacks alone, two people were killed. I extend my condolences to their families and loved ones.”
Providing information on those injured in the attacks and the tactics used, Zelensky said: “Nine people were also injured; among them is an emergency responder who was hit in an attack carried out using the ‘double-tap’ tactic. They also struck a building belonging to Kyivstar.”
Describing the geographical scope of the attacks, Zelensky said: “These attacks have been continuing since last night; attacks took place in Kyiv and the Kirovohrad, Dnipro, Odesa, Donetsk, Kherson, Kharkiv and Mykolaiv regions.”
Emphasizing the need to take measures against growing threats, Zelensky said: “We cannot simply watch as Russia improves its methods of killing. Right now, all attention must be focused on protecting the airspace, developing solutions to protect people and strengthening measures against Russian drones.”
Zelensky concluded his statement by saying: “I thank everyone who contributes to providing the missiles needed for Ukraine’s aircraft and air defense systems. All of this saves lives every day.”
