Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation Jose Manuel Albares made a statement regarding the new process regulating crossings between Gibraltar and Spain.

Drawing attention to the content of the agreement and its symbolic value, Albares said, "The historic Agreement on Gibraltar foresees the removal of the fence. It is an important symbolic turning point that makes it possible to ensure the free movement of people and goods; a historic demand of the residents of the Gibraltar area."

Emphasizing the government's stance on managing the process, Albares said, "This is not a time for fatalism and submission, but a time for determination, commitment, and action. This is the conviction of the Government of Spain."
