Spain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, Jose Manuel Albares, noted that in the early hours of February 24, 2022, Russia began its invasion of Ukraine.

Albares stated that defending Ukraine also means defending the values of freedom, democracy, and human dignity, adding that they support a just and lasting peace that will ensure security for Ukraine.

Albares said, “We will continue to contribute to humanitarian, political, and economic efforts to alleviate the suffering caused by the war, strengthen the country’s capacity to defend itself against attacks, and carry out reconstruction. Spain stands with Ukraine.”
