Footage showed thick black smoke rising around 2:15 p.m. local time as firefighters battled intense flames. The fire reportedly began in a cargo section near Gate 8 and spread rapidly.

Details about the cause of the fire have not yet been released.

According to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, flights resumed at around 9:00 p.m. local time after the blaze was brought under control. The ministry also stated that in the event of sabotage or arson, a “swift and decisive response” would be taken.

Officials said the cause of the fire is under investigation. More than 12 flights were delayed, forcing passengers to wait at the airport, while at least five flights were diverted to nearby airports.
