At least 16 dead, 80 missing in landslide in Indonesia
Jakarta, January 26 (Hibya) – At least 16 people lost their lives in a landslide and flash flood that struck the Cisarua sub-district of West Bandung Regency in Indonesia’s West Java province.
According to CCTV, at least 16 people were killed as a result of a landslide and flash flood in the Cisarua sub-district of West Bandung Regency in Indonesia’s West Java province.
Local media sources reported that approximately 80 people are missing.
The disaster reportedly occurred around 03:00 local time, when flowing earth and mud from Pasirkuning Village toward Pasir Kuda Village buried numerous houses. Residential areas in the affected region suffered severe damage.
Search and rescue operations are being carried out with difficulty due to challenging terrain, heavy debris and the possibility of further rainfall. Indonesia’s National Search and Rescue Agency announced that around 250 personnel are deployed in the area, supported by drones and search dogs.
